A composer, songwriter, singer and band member of LA-based alternative rock band The Rescues, Gabriel Mann has made significant strides in almost every corner of the music industry.
Currently, Mann is the ongoing composer to ABC’s award-winning hit comedy series “Modern Family,” now in its fourth season, and is writing the music for “Rectify,” Sundance Channel’s anticipated upcoming original scripted series. The series will debut during the 2013 Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah.
A character-driven legal drama — created and written by acclaimed actor and Academy Award-winning filmmaker Ray McKinnon — “Rectify” will open via a private screening on January 19, 2013. The six-part series will be the first project to premiere simultaneously on the Sundance Channel in the U.S. and on Sundance Channel Global in countries throughout Europe, Asia and North America.
Among his various achievements over the years, Mann produced Sara Bareilles’ “Careful Confessions”; was the resident songwriter on Fox’s “Arrested Development”; opened for Alanis Morissette on one of her European tours; sang in Fox’s popular “Office Space”; and has engineered and mixed various genres and styles of music from around the world.
Aside from “Modern Family” and “Rectify,” Mann has scored music for the WB’s “Ringer,” NBC’s “Bent,” ABC Family’s “Jane By Design,” and TV Land’s “The Exes.” Meanwhile, five songs from The Rescues album “Let Loose the Horses” (Universal Republic Records) were licensed and featured on ABC’s “Grey’s Anatomy”.
Additionally, Mann has contributed his voice and songwriting skills to Universal’s “The Lorax,” 20th Century Fox’s “Fantastic Four,” Columbia Pictures’ “Spiderman 3,” Walt Disney Pictures and Buena Vista Distribution’s “Brother Bear,” and Warner Bros.’ “The Polar Express. Recently he sang in the choir for the latest Muse album, and wrote Shamu’s theme song for 2012.
Mann’s song, “Painting Flowers” — co-written with Jeannie Lurie (“Hannah Montana”) and Steve Mazur (Our Lady Peace) — was performed by All Time Low (Interscope). It was featured on the “Almost Alice” soundtrack, which reached #1 on Billboard’s Soundtrack, Alternative Album, and Rock Album charts, and #5 on the Billboard 200.
In the realm of the video game industry, Gabriel has composed dynamic and interactive music for Vivendi Universal’s “F.E.A.R.,” Krome Studios’ “The Legend of Spyro” series, Activision’s “Crash Bandicoot” series, Sierra Entertainment’s “TimeShift”. In advertisement, Mann also wrote popular songs for McDonald’s, Walgreens and Toyota commercials.
Between a busy schedule composing music and lending his vocals for various projects, Mann finds the time to make his own solo albums and is an occasional sideman for other artists. He opened for the legendary Rolling Stones in England whlie touring with Tim Burgess of the Charlatans.
